Celebration of Delmar’s Life will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11:00am -1:00pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church aka “Old Hickory Church”. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL. 62449.

Delmar Lee Urfer, 86, Yale, IL passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday December 26, 2017.

He was born in Jasper County, IL in the Willow Hill area on February 25, 1931 to Clarence E. Urfer and Edith (Harding) Urfer.  On September 1, 1967 he married Pearl Louise Martin who preceded him in death on June 8, 2017.

Delmar served in the United States Navy from 1949 -1950. He was a lifelong farmer in Jasper County, IL. He was of the Christian faith and a member of the Newton American Legion Post #20, Willow Hill Ruritan Club and any coffee club he could find.

He is survived by a son Randy Urfer, Willow Hill, IL; two daughters and a son-in-law Diana & Craig Boyd, Hutsonville, IL, and Mary Rogers Brazil, IN; four grandchildren Patrick Boyd, Alexander Boyd, Timothy Rogers and Aaron Rogers; two sisters and a brother-in-law Geraldine “Geri” and James Smith, Wheaton, IL, Betty Wever, Edwardsville, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers John, Norman, Elbert and Morris Urfer; two sisters Naomi Thompson and Correne Bailey.
